“AA Recovery” is brought to you by Dr. Nneamaka Nwubah aka Dr. Amaka, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Nashville at Amaka Aesthetics. Dr. Amaka is known for her social media platform and the plastic surgery education, safety tips, and overall guidance she provides. Through 4 years of consistently doing this, and engaging with the social media community, she noticed that there was a major “gap” in the aftercare of patients undergoing plastic surgery. Sir Harold Gillies, known as one of the fathers of modern plastic surgery, is known for saying “The aftercare is as important as the surgery and the planning.” Improper aftercare can, in fact, ruin the results and outcome of a surgery.

The first offering of AA recovery will be Stage 2 compression garments and Dr. Amaka’s specially formulated silicone scar complex. The scar complex can be found on our AA Skin science site. The e-book, recovery packages are all in the works and will be available very soon. The E book will be a comprehensive guide to ALL things plastic surgery from decision making on procedures to the aftercare process, expectations, and more. This is all just the beginning and as things evolve, AA recovery will continue to develop and make more things available to fill in the “gap” in plastic surgery aftercare.
Compression Garments
As an avid educator to both patients and plastic surgeons, Dr. Amaka realized that plastic surgery aftercare was an underserved area as she interacted with many who simply did not know what to do after their surgery. The main area was in the area of garments. This is the first offering of Amaka Aesthetics Recovery due to the overwhelming need for good compression in the post-acute plastic surgery recovery period (beyond week 3). Many other areas and offerings related to plastic surgery aftercare are in the works!
This recovery garment was designed by Dr. Amaka and is a high quality compression garment that provides maximal compression in 3 key areas that most garments miss – the lower back, the “high” back and the lower abdomen. Dr. Amaka has been using these in her patients for over 6 months now, and they absolutely love them. This is a stage 2 garment — they are typically placed at week 3-4 and then worn for 2-3 months. Many patients do opt to wear them longer due to prolonged swelling and the comfort they find in them.
Typical patients who wear them are post tummy tuck and/or liposuction. Patients who have had BBL surgery (fat transfer to the hips and buttock) enjoy wearing these garments as well.
